Community is what brought me here, and when teachers, parents, and family communities partner together, great things can happen in the lives of our students. We are CLASS Academy and we are strong!

Happy Thursday CLASS Families!
I just want to send out a friendly reminder that Monday is a holiday and there is no school. Students do not have to log in on Monday 2/15/2021.
On Monday, staff will be remotely touring The Oregon Historical Society’s virtual exhibit called Racing to Change: Oregon’s Civil Rights Years presented by the Oregon Black Pioneers. I urge you to check the virtual exhibit out as it “illuminates the Civil Rights Movement in Oregon in the 1960s and 1970s, a time of cultural and social upheaval, conflict, and change.” Many students in the older grade levels will be touring this virtual exhibit in class as well. It is truly well done and an important part of history to learn from.
On a side note,
I have been walking around the school these past two weeks and couldn’t help but reflect on the chaos and creativity that makes this community what it is. The vibrancy and noise is back and so welcomed!
That sense of community is what drew me to CLASS Academy. That sense of community makes us so special and unique. Our young people’s voices, and our parents congregating in the mornings and making connections with each other always fills my bucket with joy. While there is still much missing there is so much here and happening.
CAPA has played a pivotal role in providing enrichments that help our school come ALIVE!, and I fear the sustainability without the events that usually take place every year to support these programs. We need to work together as community to help to continue to build on our values and remain strong. We need ideas, and your presence…even if it is virtually. I know that is a lot to ask during these unprecedented times, but this is our current reality. This is my plea. I understand that nationally there is a drop in parent association involvement, but without funding I fear sustainability of the arts and fieldtrips. There are so many ways to engage.
Community is what brought me here, and when teachers, parents, and family communities partner together, great things can happen in the lives of our students. We are CLASS Academy and we are strong!
